The start of the season of the ADAC GT Masters in Oschersleben is imminent. Just in time for the start Zakspeed announces the driver pairing for the second race car. The junior program will be continued.
After the first official test drives for the ADAC GT Masters in Oschersleben, the two Zakspeed racing cars are ready to start in the prelude in less than a week. The positive results of the test drives make for a hopeful good start into the season. At the end of both test days the two Mercedes GT3s from Niederzissen finished on P1 and P3 on the timetable.
The second driver pairing is confirmed – The junior program will be continued
Something has also happened in the cockpits of the Zakspeed Mercedes. After extending his contract last year Luca Stolz will join Sebastian Asch behind the wheel this year. Asch, the 2015 champion, signed with Peter Zakowski in January.
The second car is also strongly occupied. With Nicolai Sylvest, who will be competing for Zakspeed for his third season, and Kim-Luis Schramm, a rising star from ADAC Formula 4, Zakspeed will be able to present two strong juniors. The fast-moving Dane Sylvest, being only 20 years old, is already one of the top drivers on the starting grid of the ADAC GT Masters. This he showed during the official test drives in Oschersleben. By posting a time of 1.23.320 minutes, he drove the fastest overall time of the field.
Kim-Luis Schramm is also only 20 years old and will be joining the ADAC GT Masters from the ADAC Formula 4 this year. In the ADAC Formula 4 he was able to achieve fifth place overall in 2016. He was also able to deliver to the fullest satisfaction during the test drives in Oschersleben, he improved from session to session. Peter Zakowski and his team will now professionally prepare him for his first appearance in the ADAC GT Masters.
Zakspeed encourages young drivers
Zakspeed has set itself the task of promoting and financing young talents in GT sports. With this year’s drive line up Sylvest / Schramm, the team from Niederzissen continues its junior driver program in the ADAC GT Masters.
Team boss Peter Zakowski on the driver pairing:
“I am glad that the selection process of our drivers has been completed and that we have optimally occupied our two racing cars with the driver pairings Asch / Stolz and Schramm / Sylvest.
Sebastian as a returnee has immediately reintegrated into the team great and motivated the entire team. Luca will certainly take home his first Zakspeed win this year after the year of settling in last year. Our juniors are both strong. I am very pleased that we will have Nicolai in the team again this and Kim has been more than recommended by the great test work. ”
Kim-Luis Schramm is also looking forward to his first ADAC GT Masters season. “I am pleased to compete in the ADAC GT Masters this year. My first season is about gaining experience and getting to know the car and the team. Let’s see what the outcome is at the end. I’m happy to be able to race for a team like Zakspeed. ”
A logistical challenge awaits the team on the first race weekend. Parallel to the race in the ADAC GT Masters, the 6h qualifying race for the ADAC Zurich 24h Race takes place on the Nürburgring. For which Zakspeed, on the behalf of Toyota Gazoo Racing Team Thailand, bring two vehicles to the start in the SP3 class.
The ADAC GT Masters will start the new season on the weekend of 13th to the 15th of April 2018 with the race in Oschersleben. Overall, the league of super sports cars includes 14 races, divided into seven race weekends in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.
